FATAL BICYCLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy had both lights and sirens activated at the time of the tragic crash.

Despite specialized training, law enforcement officers are still susceptible to the risks of emergency driving, which can include distractions from onboard technology, urgent communications, and high-speed responses. The National Safety Council (NSC) reported that in 2023, 198 fatalities occurred in crashes involving emergency vehicles, with police vehicles accounting for 134 of those deaths.

While the incident remains under investigation, Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a seasoned accident attorney, stressed the importance of conducting an independent investigation to determine liability.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview key witnesses, analyze surveillance footage, and obtain phone and text records of the responsible party,” said Bond, also a national legal analyst. “An attorney can provide compassionate support to a grieving family while vigorously defending their legal rights and pursuing the justice they deserve.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of John Mullins may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Families of wrongful death victims can pursue compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, emotional distress, and other damages following a tragic accident.

“We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death lawyer will stay informed on the official investigation and work to ensure the family’s best interests are prioritized. Loved ones of wrongful death victims have the right to seek justice and fair compensation for their immense loss.”
