Why Do Moped Accidents Like This Occur?

Mopeds, due to their compact size, pose unique risks when sharing roads with larger vehicles like pickup trucks. Negligent driving behaviors, such as failing to yield at intersections, often contribute to these tragedies.

Data from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) highlights the growing concern:

The CPSC notes that moped and scooter injuries and deaths have been increasing, underscoring the need for heightened awareness among drivers.

Legal Insights

National legal analysts emphasize the importance of thorough investigations in moped collision cases to establish liability and support affected families.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important when investigating a scooter accident case and demonstrating that there was negligence on the part of a motorist,” said Candice Bond, managing partner of Bond Legal. “Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must thoroughly be examined.”

  • Independent investigations help preserve victims' rights promptly.
  • Common causes include driver negligence around smaller vehicles.
  • Environmental factors like poor visibility must be evaluated.

Potential Wrongful Death Claim

Following the ongoing CHP investigation, Perry's family may pursue a wrongful death claim to seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal. “We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.”
