Woman, Child Sustain Non-Life-Threatening Injuries in Crash, Officials Say

FORT WORTH, TX, (July 23, 2025) - A crash Wednesday night in northwest Fort Worth claimed the life of one person and injured two others, including a child, authorities said. The collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the 4600 block of Hodgkins Road near Lake Worth.

Police Lights car crashDaniel Ray Patton, 34, was killed in a head-on collision Wednesday night in northwest Fort Worth that also left a woman and a child hospitalized with injuries.

According to preliminary reports and witness statements, a pickup truck traveling on Hodgkins veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle. The driver of the pickup, identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 34-year-old Daniel Ray Patton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman and a child in the second vehicle were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Officials have not yet determined why the pickup crossed into opposing lanes. An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Experts note that head-on collisions are especially dangerous due to the combined impact force and the direction of energy transfer, which significantly increases the risk of severe injury or death for vehicle occupants. In 2023 alone, Texas recorded 15,227 serious injury crashes, with 18,765 people suffering serious injuries, according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

While the cause and liability of the crash remain under investigation, Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national legal analyst for The Legal Advocate, stressed the importance of conducting an independent investigation alongside official efforts.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash, and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party,” Bond said. “Time is of the essence in cases such as this, and the victim’s family must ensure that evidence is reviewed efficiently.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the victims injured in the crash may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Serious injuries can lead to significant disruption in a person’s life, affecting their health, family, work, finances, and overall quality of life.

Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of securing legal representation during such difficult times.

“It is vital for victims to hire an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, which allows them to negotiate with an insurance company on behalf of a client,” Bond said. “Insurance companies often try to pressure victims to settle for a quick payout for far less than the case is worth. However, an attorney will vigorously advocate for their client to ensure that they are treated with respect and compensated fairly.”
