Passenger Vehicle Strikes Four-Wheeler Wednesday on County Road 17
LOGAN, OH, (July 09, 2025) - The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious crash involving a motor vehicle and an ATV that occurred Wednesday afternoon outside of Lakeview.
Damien Dorsey was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when a passenger vehicle struck the ATV he was operating on County Road 17 just outside of Lakeview.
Authorities reported that shortly before 5 p.m., a northbound 2010 Ford Taurus on County Road 17 struck a westbound ATV as it attempted to cross the roadway.
The ATV driver, 25-year-old Damien Dorsey of Lakeview, was ejected in the collision and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital by emergency responders.
No other injuries were reported in the incident.
ATV ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
According to data from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, approximately 568 adults and 144 children lose their lives annually in ATV and UTV crashes, with many more suffering injuries.
Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and national analyst for The Legal Advocate, emphasized the importance of initiating an independent investigation quickly in the aftermath of such incidents to preserve critical evidence.
“In addition to a police report, an attorney will carefully review what may have contributed to the crash,” said Bond, a seasoned attorney in ATV accident cases.
She noted that a lawyer can bring in expert witnesses, conduct background checks, locate witnesses, and assess insurance coverage to protect the victim’s rights. “Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help guide an injury victim through what can be a complicated process,” she added.
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
Damien Dorsey may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim as authorities continue to investigate the ATV vs. vehicle collision that left him seriously injured near Lakeview.
Candice Bond, of counsel at Bond Legal, noted, “Injured victims involved in a collision often seek a personal injury claim to cover the cost of medical bills, future medical care, loss of income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.”
Bond added that insurance companies are often reluctant to fairly compensate victims. “We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing the insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” she said, stressing the importance of legal representation to secure justice.
