Solo-Vehicle Crash Near Vandercook Lake Kills One

August 30, 2025 | Summit Township, MI

A single-vehicle crash on August 30 in Summit Township, Michigan, tragically killed one person and seriously injured another. The victim has been identified as Trevor Allen Olson, 35, of Van Buren Township. According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, the crash occurred around 4:46 a.m. on U.S. 127 south near Floyd Avenue. The vehicle, a black Ford Escape, traveled off the road and struck a tree. Olson was a passenger and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, also from Van Buren Township, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The crash closed a portion of U.S. 127 for several hours while authorities investigated. The investigation is still ongoing.

CRASH INVESTIGATION
