Firefighters responded to a nursing facility late Jan. 1 where smoke filled the building from a malfunctioning appliance. The incident took place at 115 Sunset Road, near Burlington Woods. Crews encountered smoke throughout the one-story structure and initiated venting operations to improve air quality. The facility was evacuated preventively, with no injuries reported.
