Firefighters responded to reports of smoke damage in a home's basement laundry room after a dryer belt caught fire. Emergency crews arrived at the scene on Quarles Street NE at 10:48 a.m. Jan. 18. The incident caused smoke to fill the basement due to the burnt belt on the dryer. One engine and one truck remained on scene to ventilate the area.
