Firefighters responded to reports of smoke damage at a residence on 6 Humboldt St., where a boiler malfunction caused heavy smoke conditions. Crews from the Wood-Ridge Fire Department arrived around 4:55 p.m. on Jan. 7 to vent smoke from the property. No injuries were reported in the incident, which was contained to the boiler area.

The cause is under investigation, but officials confirmed the smoke originated from the heating system failure.
