Smoke damage was reported at a residential building following a minor kitchen incident on Jan. 4. Emergency responders rushed to 2 Aldersgate Drive, Building 10, in Riverhead after smoke from burnt food in a microwave spread throughout the structure. The mishap happened around 10:58 a.m.

Fortunately, no one was hurt, and crews contained the smoke before it worsened. Officials ruled it accidental, caused by leaving food unattended in the microwave.
