Firefighters are battling a second-alarm blaze that broke out in an apartment within a seven-story building at 85 Washington Street. The fire prompted an escalation to a second alarm as crews worked to contain the flames. Emergency responders arrived on scene early Sunday morning, stretching two lines and conducting searches for potential occupants. A mayday was called, signaling possible distress among firefighters, with additional resources including a truck company dispatched to assist.
