Why Do Drowsy Driving Accidents Happen?
Drowsy driving remains a hidden danger on roadways, often leading to sudden and devastating collisions without any prior signs like braking or swerving. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), fatigue contributes to over 100,000 crashes annually in the U.S., resulting in thousands of injuries and hundreds of deaths.
These incidents typically occur during long drives when drivers experience micro-sleeps, causing vehicles to drift unpredictably. Highways like U.S. 26, with their extended straightaways, amplify the risks.
