FATAL TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
Traffic laws clearly require drivers to stop at all red lights. Unfortunately, not all motorists comply, leading to tragic accidents like the one that claimed the life of Robert Nowlin.
According to the Federal Highway Administration, about 40% of automobile collisions occur at intersections, with many caused by drivers running stop signs or stoplights. Common contributing factors include impatience, reckless behavior, and distracted driving.
Regardless of the findings from any police investigation, Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Newsline, emphasized the importance of conducting an independent investigation to uncover the full circumstances of the crash and protect the rights of the victim’s family.
“Time is of the essence in cases such as this, and a grieving family must be ensured that evidence is reviewed in an efficient manner,” Bond said. “In addition to the thorough work of law enforcement, an attorney can analyze potential contributing factors, hire expert witnesses, review driver history, identify crash witnesses, and evaluate all applicable insurance coverage. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can compassionately guide families through this difficult time while working to secure their legal rights and best interests.”
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the results of the investigation, the family of Robert Nowlin may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of victims in such cases can seek compensation for loss of love and companionship, funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and emotional distress resulting from a tragic accident like this one.
“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death attorney will stay informed on the official investigation and work to ensure that the family’s legal rights and best interests are safeguarded.”
