FM 730 Collision Kills Two, Injures Three

September 23, 2025 | Azle, TX

A multi-vehicle crash on FM 730 on September 23 resulted in two fatalities and three injuries. The Azle Police Department reported that the collision occurred around 12:19 p.m. when a northbound vehicle crossed the median and struck a southbound vehicle driven by 67-year-old Robert Edwin Anness. The head-on impact killed Anness and a 73-year-old woman who was a passenger in the other vehicle. The crash subsequently involved two other vehicles. Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries, and a fifth person was evaluated and treated at the scene. Following the incident, FM 730 S was closed in both directions between Creekwood Ranch Road and Main Street. Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash but do not suspect drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor.

HEAD-ON CRASH INVESTIGATION

The most common cause of head-on accidents is driver error. However, they are also caused by speeding, distracted driving, drunken driving, poor road design, inexperienced drivers, and confusion from the driver.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 42,915 people lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2021, an increase of over 10 percent from 2020.

“Contributing factors to be examined include road conditions, visibility, and lighting,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Robert Anness could pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident such as this.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand just what families must go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.”
