An 81-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing in a marked crosswalk.

How was the suspect identified?

Richmond police used video surveillance and Automated License Plate Reader technology to locate the vehicle. The car was found abandoned and seized as evidence. A 66-year-old man was taken into custody on Aug. 30 in the 400 block of Fourth Street. Charges filed include felony hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter, and driving with a suspended license.

The case remains active.
