The Porsche traveled westbound at a high rate of speed behind the Ram pickup carrying six passengers. The Porsche struck the truck from behind, sending it off the road and overturning. The Porsche then crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the Mercedes head-on before catching fire. The California Highway Patrol closed the roadway for several hours.
