Legal Insights

In cases such as this involving motor vehicle crashes, thorough examinations by seasoned professionals can uncover critical details for affected parties.

“A comprehensive review conducted independently helps those affected engage effectively with insurers on behalf of those involved,” said Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Newsline.

Bond emphasized that while financial remedies cannot replace a life lost, proper advocacy ensures fair treatment amid grief.

  • Key takeaways from legal perspectives:

    • Insurers may push for rapid settlements undervaluing long-term effects like emotional distress and ongoing care needs.
    • Representation focuses on securing compensation for medical expenses, lost income, and non-economic damages.
    • Families benefit from separating civil claims from any criminal proceedings.

“Claims arising from wrongful death allow estates or relatives to seek damages for burial expenses, companionship loss, trauma, and suffering,” Bond noted. “These civil matters differ significantly from criminal investigations.”

Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal, added insights on insurance options.

“Passengers can pursue coverage from the at-fault vehicle's policy without affecting personal insurance, provided liability is established,” Formica explained.
