A small fire broke out in the basement behind an oil burner, resulting in smoke damage to a home on Canvasback Lane in Amagansett on Jan. 12. Emergency responders arrived at 44 Canvasback Lane shortly after 2:30 p.m. in response to reports of smoke in the basement. Fire crews are currently checking for any extension of the fire and ventilating the property to ensure it is safe.
