Deadly wreck happened on Forest Service Road, north of Carr Creek Road, CHP says
TRINITY, CA, (September 21, 2024) - Two Vacaville residents lost their lives in a crash involving an all-terrain vehicle Saturday around 12:44 p.m. in unincorporated Trinity County, the California Highway Patrol said.
Vacaville residents Michael Cagnina and Bobby Jones were killed when their ATV crashed into a tree Saturday around 12:44 p.m. in unincorporated Trinity County, CHP said in a release.
The incident happened along Forest Service Road, north of Carr Creek Road.
Based on preliminary findings by the Highway Patrol, 65-year-old Michael Cagnina and 47-year-old Bobby Jones were traveling eastbound when their ATV ran off the forest road for unknown reasons and overturned down an embankment where they slammed into a tree. Tragically, Cagnina and Jones died as a result of injuries.
Authorities have yet to determine who was operating the ATV at the time of the crash.
This is an ongoing investigation.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Approximately 135,000 people are injured and 700 are killed each year in ATV crashes.
