Two Dead, One Injured in Crash on State Route 29 Near Hidden Valley Lake
LAKE, CA, (September 08, 2025) - A head-on collision on Monday afternoon in Lake County killed two elderly women and injured another, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Clearlake Area office.
Margaret Ann Titus, 58, of Lower Lake, sustained injuries in a two-vehicle collision Monday afternoon in Lake County, authorities reported.
The crash occurred around 2:35 p.m. on State Route 29 near Hidden Valley Lake. Authorities reported that a 92-year-old resident driving a 2010 Ford Edge southbound crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a 2011 Nissan Altima just south of milepost 29.
The 92-year-old driver of the Ford and an 83-year-old passenger in the Altima died from their injuries. Margaret Ann Titus, 58, of Lower Lake, who was driving the Altima, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The CHP said the crash remains under investigation.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
When vehicles collide head-on at their combined speeds, the resulting impact force is typically severe and can potentially lead to catastrophic injuries or death. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that 39,345 people died in traffic crashes in 2024.
While the cause and liability of the crash are being investigated, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, said that it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned attorney.
“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash, and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party,” said Bond, a national analyst for The Legal Advocate.
“Time is of the essence in cases such as this, and the victim’s family must ensure that evidence is reviewed efficiently.”
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
Pending the outcome of the investigation, Margaret Ann Titus may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, noted that the stress and worry following a serious injury can be overwhelming, affecting every aspect of life, including family, work, finances, and overall well-being.
“It is essential for victims to hire an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, as this allows proper negotiation with insurance companies on their behalf,” Bond added.
“Insurance companies often pressure victims to accept a quick payout far below the true value of their case. An experienced attorney will vigorously advocate for their client to ensure they are treated fairly and compensated appropriately.”
