SUV turns into motorcycle’s path on Hwy 99, causing fatal crash

YUBA, CA, (July 30, 2025) - A 62-year-old Live Oak man tragically lost his life Wednesday morning in a collision involving his motorcycle and an SUV at the intersection of Highway 99 and Bogue Road in Yuba City, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Police Lights car crashAuthorities say Amarjit Singh, 65, of Yuba City, allegedly turned his SUV into the path of a motorcycle, causing a fatal crash Wednesday morning.

Authorities say the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on a Harley-Davidson when an SUV, driven by 65-year-old Amarjit Singh, turned left in front of him. Singh, who was behind an aggregate truck turning into a coned-off construction zone, reportedly made the same maneuver, directly into the rider’s path. The resulting head-on collision ejected the motorcyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Singh sustained minor injuries, and a passenger in his vehicle was unharmed.

The crash remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Often, vehicle drivers fail to yield while making left turns and travel directly into the motorcycle's path, resulting in deadly crashes. In 2020, about 1,158 fatal crashes involved a vehicle turning left while the motorcycles were going straight, passing, or overtaking other vehicles, the NHTSA said in a report.

“Motorcyclists are arguably the most vulnerable motorists on the road,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

Bond, an experienced motorcycle accident attorney, noted that in cases such as this, it is imperative to have an independent investigation into the crash conducted by a seasoned lawyer to protect the rights of the victim's family.

“Blind spots, inexperienced drivers, and distracted motorists often cause these types of collisions. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a family during this difficult time, protecting their rights while ensuring that a driver is held accountable if they do not obey traffic laws.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of the Live Oak resident may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident such as this incident.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.”
