Early Thursday morning pickup truck crash was on California Highway 299

Two people lost their lives early Thursday morning in a single-vehicle accident on the Salt Creek Bridge in Bella Vista.
The Shasta County Sheriff's Office says a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck believed to be heading eastbound along California Highway 299 crashed into the guardrail, careened off the bridge, and landed on its top around 2:17 a.m.
Leobardo Sosa and Hector Gutierrez died early Thursday morning in single-vehicle accident on California Highway 299 in Bella Vista.
Two people in the pickup, 30-year-old Leobardo Tapia Sosa and 25-year-old Hector Miguel Gutierrez both of McArthur, died in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
CRASH INVESTIGATION
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 42,915 people lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2021, an increase of over 10 percent from 2020.
