Fatal truck crash in La Salle County on Interstate 35 kills two

Two men were killed Monday in La Salle County when their pickup truck collided with a commercial vehicle along Interstate 35, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported.
Kyle Jones, 26, of Natalia, and Fernando Espinosa, 54, of Dilley, were traveling in a white 2011 Ford pickup around 3:52 p.m. near milepost 55 when the vehicle struck the rear of a commercial truck. Both vehicles caught fire after the collision, with the pickup fully engulfed and the trailer also burning. The pickup driver’s identity was not immediately confirmed.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries. DPS continues to investigate the crash.
CRASH INVESTIGATION
Texas recorded 4,150 traffic fatalities in 2024, representing a 3.29% decrease from the 4,291 deaths in 2023, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
