FATAL HEAD-ON ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
The sheriff's department is investigating the cause of the crash.
In total, 49% of all deadly car crashes occur on weekend days, including Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Mississippi’s road fatalities have decreased by 52% between 1975-2023, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. However, national crash data also showed that Mississippi had the highest crash fatality rate in 2023, the year with the latest data from the Institute.
The most common cause of head-on accidents is driver error. Common variables include drunk driving, speeding, distracted driving, poor road design, inexperienced drivers, and confusion on the part of the driver.
Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney, said in cases such as this that it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned lawyer as soon as possible to preserve evidence.
“An attorney can collect the proper evidence to help prove that a driver’s actions were reckless, which requires a variety of resources,” said Bond, who is Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Newsline. “In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide families who have lost loved ones during this difficult time, all while protecting their rights.”
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending results of the investigation, the family of Kenzavion Brown may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of love and companionship, funeral costs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.
“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.”
