September 18, 2025 | Thompson, NY

A fatal pedestrian crash on September 18 in the town of Thompson is under investigation by New York State Police. The victim, identified as 56-year-old Ken Ghana Parsons of Monticello, was in a crosswalk at the Route 42 roundabout when she was hit by a 2012 Ford pickup truck. The collision happened at around 4:11 p.m. when the pickup, driven by a 24-year-old Pennsylvania man, entered the roundabout and attempted to take the first exit. Parsons sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Garnet Health Medical Center, where she later passed away. Life-saving measures were performed on-site before she was transported to the hospital. PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

This tragic accident underscores the dangers that pedestrians face every day in this country.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an estimated 67,336 pedestrian accidents occurred in 2022, resulting in 7,522 fatalities.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors considered and examined,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond, an experienced pedestrian attorney.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

“It is almost always a driver’s duty to yield to any pedestrian,” said Candice Bond, of counsel at Bond Legal. The family of Ken Ghana Parsons may be entitled to a wrongful death claim.

“Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of income and companionship, pain and suffering, funeral expenses, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident,” Bond said.

Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a family through this difficult time while protecting their rights.

“Insurance companies often try to pressure victims to settle for a quick payout for far less than the case is worth,” Bond noted. “However, an attorney will vigorously advocate for their client to ensure that they are treated with respect and compensated fairly.”
