A 20-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while skateboarding near Desert Hot Springs on Dec. 1.
The Riverside County Coroner's office identified the victim as Juan Jr. Mejia Calvillo, a resident of Desert Hot Springs.

Juan Jr. Mejia Calvillo, 20, of Desert Hot Springs died after Chevrolet Camaro crossed double yellow lines on Mountain View Road and struck him while he rode skateboard.
California Highway Patrol investigators reported that a male driver was heading south on Mountain View Road, north of Louisan Road. The driver attempted to pass a slower vehicle by crossing the solid double yellow lines, leading to the collision with Calvillo.
Calvillo was seated on his skateboard and traveling south in the northbound lane at the time of the incident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
