The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly motorcycle accident that occurred on Rohr Road in Hamilton Township. Authorities report that a Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) bus turned left without yielding, leading to a collision with an oncoming motorcycle. The crash trapped the motorcycle and rider beneath the bus, which then ignited.

Jan Quinones, 24, from Columbus, was the motorcyclist. He was declared deceased at the scene at 4:16 p.m. on Jan. 5.

The bus operator, a 57-year-old Columbus resident, sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. No other individuals were on board the bus.

The department's Accident Investigation Unit is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
