Resendiz-Cabrera was pronounced dead at the scene. The 78-year-old Audi driver also died in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Wrong-way driving is a type of road incident that presents significant risks to drivers, passengers, and other vehicles. Although it occurs less frequently than other traffic violations, wrong-way driving has a higher likelihood of resulting in high-speed, head-on collisions, which can affect overall traffic safety.

More than 400 people are killed in wrong-way crashes each year across the country, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said.

Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney, said that accidents such as this one can occur for a variety of reasons, including inexperienced drivers, failure to obey laws and safety guidelines, reckless driving, driving in unfamiliar terrain, and driving under the influence.

“Each case is unique and must be investigated thoroughly. Time is of the essence in cases such as this and the family of the victim must ensure that evidence is reviewed in an efficient manner,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Newsline.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party,” said Bond.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Ismael Resendiz-Cabrera may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Relatives of wrongful death victims can seek damages for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and pain following a catastrophic accident.

“The grief and stress after losing a loved one in an accident can be overwhelming,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families face, and protecting their rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney will monitor the investigation and ensure the family’s best interests are represented and safeguarded.”
