Firefighters rushed to a residence at 9 Se arington Drive early on Jan. 1 after reports of light smoke and high carbon monoxide readings stemming from a fireplace failure.

The Nassau County Fire Department reached the site at approximately 4:47 a.m., working to air out the home and protect those inside. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the occurrence.
