32-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Crash on 67th Street, Officials Say
S. LOS ANGELES, CA, (July 01, 2025) - Authorities are searching for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash that occurred Tuesday night in South Los Angeles. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 32-year-old Edgar Cumplido.
Edgar Cumplido, 32, was fatally struck by a speeding Tesla in a hit-and-run Tuesday night in South Los Angeles; authorities are offering a reward for information.
The incident occurred around 10:10 p.m. when a black Tesla Model X, reportedly speeding eastbound on 67th Street from Flower Street, struck Cumplido as he was riding his bicycle. He was transported to a hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Police said the Tesla driver fled the scene following the collision. City officials have offered a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the suspect’s identification, arrest, and conviction.
The crash remains under investigation.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Under California law, fleeing the scene of a crash is a criminal offense. Yet despite the law, many drivers still choose to leave the scene, putting victims’ lives further at risk.
