Early Morning Fire Erupts in Staten Island Home's Porch

Firefighters tackled a fire that ignited in the porch and doorway of a home on Norwalk Avenue early Thursday morning. The blaze was reported at 5:23 a.m. on Jan. 2, triggering a 10-75 alarm for a working fire at Box 1558. Upon arrival, Ladder 83 discovered flames in the porch and door area. Crews quickly brought the fire under control shortly afterward.
