A chimney fire broke out late Wednesday night, extending to the roof of a two-story wood frame house in Corning and drawing a swift response from local firefighters. The blaze was reported at 11954 River Road, with emergency crews dispatched around 11:19 p.m. on Jan. 1 after alerts of a working fire starting in the chimney.
