PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL, (August 24, 2025) - A 28-year-old woman was critically injured Sunday when the motorcycle she was riding as a passenger was struck by an alleged impaired driver in Panama City Beach.
Chastity Lindberg sustained serious injuries Sunday when the motorcycle she was riding as a passenger was hit by an alleged impaired driver in Panama City Beach.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Chastity Lindberg of Fort Walton Beach was riding on a motorcycle that collided with an SUV driven by 26-year-old Alexander Brian Morrison around 1:20 a.m. on Thomas Drive. The impact ejected Lindberg and the motorcycle operator from the bike. Morrison continued to Joan Avenue before being detained by authorities.
Lindberg was transported to Ascension Sacred Heart Bay Hospital with serious injuries. The motorcycle operator died in the crash. Morrison was arrested on multiple charges, including DUI manslaughter, DUI causing serious bodily injury, and leaving the scene resulting in death and serious injury.
DUI CRASH INVESTIGATION
Alcohol impairs drivers' coordination, reaction time, and vision, making it harder to notice and avoid motorcycles. With little protection, motorcyclists are highly vulnerable in crashes, often resulting in serious injury or death.
According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), 300,000 people are injured in DUI crashes each year. One person was killed in drunken driving crashes every 43 minutes. In Florida, there were approximately 44,185 DUI arrests in 2023.
Candice Bond, an experienced DWI accident attorney, was interviewed and provided her thoughts on incidents such as this one.
"Separate from criminal charges, a victim's family may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party, said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a victim during this difficult time, protecting their legal rights while ensuring that drunken drivers are held accountable for their reckless actions.”
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
Chastity Lindberg may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, noted that the stress and worry following a serious injury can be overwhelming, affecting family life, work, finances, and overall quality of life.
“Although no amount of money can undo the impact of a devastating injury, it is important that victims are aware of their legal rights and entitlements,” Bond said. “The injured party in this collision may be entitled to a personal injury claim, including recovery for medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.”
