A tragic head-on collision claimed the life of 42-year-old Anabel Zamora from Granada Hills and left her 10-year-old daughter, Caroline, with severe injuries. 

The incident unfolded on State Route 23 in Moorpark, near the 118 Freeway, when a speeding 2007 Chevy Silverado lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic, striking Zamora's 2013 Lexus ES350.

Authorities from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the Silverado driver attempted to pass traffic using the center median at high speed, leading to the loss of control, crash with an embankment, and breach of the median guardrail. A female passenger in the Silverado also perished in the crash. Three individuals, including Caroline, another Lexus occupant, and the Silverado driver, sustained major injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
