Sunday morning collision happened near Griffith Park
LOS ANGELES, CA, (September 29, 2024) - A devastating single-vehicle rollover accident early Sunday morning in Los Angeles resulted in the death of a 19-year-old woman and left three men injured.
Aileen Ruiz sadly lost her life on Sunday as the result of a motor vehicle crash near Griffith Park in Los Angeles.
The crash happened around 12:50 a.m. on the connector from the eastbound Ventura Freeway to the southbound Golden State Freeway near Griffith Park.
The driver, a 20-year-old man, was traveling southbound in a white 2001 Honda sedan when he lost control of the vehicle. The car veered right, collided with a metal guardrail, and overturned on the connector road. It was found on its roof, partially blocking the slow lane. The car was severely damaged by fire, authorities said.
One person was ejected from the vehicle upon impact.
Emergency responders faced a challenging rescue operation. Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to free two individuals trapped inside the wreckage, while another person managed to exit the vehicle without assistance.
The young woman, identified as Aileen Ruiz, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two men suffered major injuries and were transported to an area hospital, while a third man was treated for minor injuries.
No arrests have been made.
Police said that drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the accident.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
CRASH INVESTIGATION
In 2018, the U.S. Department of Transportation Fatality Analysis Reporting System recorded 33,654 fatal motor vehicle crashes in the United States, resulting in 36,560 deaths.
“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all potential contributing factors that are considered and examined,” stated Candice Bond, an experienced attorney and Managing Partner at Bond Legal.
“Sometimes, an accident reconstruction team is required to piece together what happened. All these resources are essential in helping clients receive financial compensation for damages or a loss after an accident,” added Bond.
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the investigation, the family of Aileen Ruiz could pursue a wrongful death claim. Relatives of wrongful death victims are entitled to seek damages for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.
“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Bond.
“We understand the hardships that families face, and it's crucial to protect their rights. A wrongful death lawyer will keep abreast of the official investigation and ensure that their legal rights and best interests are safeguarded."
